The Danger of Being A Liberal Christian

Romans 1:26-32 (KJV) us that there
will be those that have known God that will "hold the truth in
unrighteousness". There are many Christians today claiming to be
believers but willing to accept and tolerate a government that is moving away
from God. One of the big problems today is the issue that economics are
more important than social and moral issues. Jesus stated that
"where your treasures are, there your heart will be also" Matthew
6:21. If a Christian is more concerned about money than morals, then they
are surely among those that will walk the broad way that leads to destruction.
Christians must avoid allowing
their own hearts to be "turned over to sin" in the name of
tolerance and political correctness. Paul warns in Romans about
the Christian and believer who knew God, but has changed the truth of God
into a lie. (v.25) The warning is that such tolerance of sin will
eventually capture their own soul. Notice the awful potential that can
await the liberal Christian as God turns their own minds to do the very things
that they now tolerate.
Romans 1:24-32 (KJV) 24 Wherefore
God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to
dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served
the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile
affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is
against nature: 27 And
likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their
lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and
receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God
in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those
things which are not convenient; 29 Being
filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness,
maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers,
without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit
such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in
them that do them.
The true Christian realizes that sin destroys lives and does not accept any social policy that tolerates or agrees with a sinful life style. True Christians do not act as judge and jury to bring about the punishment that the Bible says awaits the sinner, for instead we try to bring the gospel that save such souls from sin. But a Christian should stand in agreement with the Bible injunction that "the law is for the lawless" (1 Timothy 1:9) and expects that the laws of the land should agree with God's laws. When they are not in agreement, then a Christian must take a stand against those that oppose God's laws.
